据台湾中时新闻网1月2日报道，台南市北门区一路段1日下午14时14分发生一起3死2伤严重车祸，法医于今日（2日）下午进行检验，3名死者皆是不到20岁的年轻人。警方查出，开车肇事的20岁陈姓男子是现役军人，送医时进行酒精测试，疑似酒驾、车速过快肇事，目前他就医治疗，详细肇事原因有待进一步调查。
报道称，21岁陈姓男子驾驶小客车载着3名男子与1名女子共5人，在台南参加完庙会驾车返回嘉义，沿台17线由南向北行驶，行经在北门区新围抽水站前，失控偏离车道，高速冲撞桥墩，车辆腾空弹飞到对向的车道，车体严重变形，车内4人被甩出车外，陈姓驾驶员则受困车内。
处理车祸的警方表示，现场肇事车辆严重扭曲凹陷且翻覆，马路上到处都是车辆散落的零件，受伤乘客也躺在路中央，受困车内的陈姓驾驶员意识清醒，5人全部送医治疗。
消防救护人员表示，被甩出车外的4人中，1男1女到医院前已无呼吸心跳，经急救宣告不治死亡，另2名男子1人意识不清、1人昏迷，其中1人急救至深夜也宣告不治，这场车祸造成3死2伤。
